Learn-To-Skate

The Learn-To-Skate Program will teach children the basics of hockey or figure skating. Participants progress through specific skill levels of instruction including forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and crossovers. The minimum age is 4 years old. The program is run through the City of Steamboat Springs. Classes are on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00-4:30 p.m. and are 8 weeks in length. The $60 registration fee includes instruction, USFSA membership, skills record book badges, skate rental and a punch card for 8 additional public skating sessions. Introduction To Figure Skating

This class is designed to teach skating skills at a faster pace in a small group lesson environment and to introduce the benefits of club membership. The skaters will learn proper stretching, warm-up, cool downs, stroking, edges, spins, jumps and artistry in motion. The lessons are 8 weeks in length, the price includes one half-hour lesson on Sunday and a half-hour practice time right after the lesson. All skaters can participate in the figure skating club events: ice shows, exhibitions and competitions. Skate rentals are not included. Coaches for this program are shown on the coaches' page.

 

 

Session 1: 3:45-4:15 p.m. September 9 - November 11, 2007
(No class Oct 7th & Nov 4th)
Session 2: 3:45-4:15 p.m. November 18, 2007 - January 20, 2008
(No class Dec 23rd, Dec 30th)
Session 2 registrants may participate in the Holiday Ice Show on
December 27, 28 & 29, 2007.
Session 3: 3:15-3:45 p.m. January 27-March 23, 2008
(No class March 16th)
Session 3 registrants may participate in the Skating Exhibition
on April 14, 2008.
Intro Make-up Class Sunday, March 30th 3:45 - 4:15 p.m.
